We tested this on 28 August 2026. Asked in a logged-out chat for a death-metal band logo as a downloadable SVG, ChatGPT replied: “Image generation and image editing require logging in.” The text advice is free and anonymous; anything visual is behind the signup wall.

What you get back is a picture, not a logo file
ChatGPT Images produces a raster image — you press Save and a picture lands in your downloads. A logo has to survive being a 32 px favicon and a two-metre banner, which is what a vector is for. A generated PNG blown up to a print size falls apart.

Text is where it slips
Image models are famously unreliable with lettering, and a band or team logo is mostly lettering. Expect to burn several generations on a name that comes back subtly misspelled or with letters that do not quite match each other.
